D23 2026 Disney Announcements: Every U.S. Park Update

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event took place in Anaheim on August 14-16, 2026, and Saturday night’s Disney Experiences Showcase brought a ton of news for both coasts. We learned new details and got a few surprises too.

We’ve put together every Disneyland and Walt Disney World theme park announcement in one place, so you don’t have to scroll for hours. You’ll find all the official details and dates that have been released, and we’re calling out which parts are new versus which projects you’ve already heard about.

Walt Disney World

All four Walt Disney World parks got news at D23 this year. Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios each had at least one update, ranging from brand new project reveals to fresh details on lands that have been under construction for a while.

Magic Kingdom

Villains Land has been in the works since 2024, but D23 is where it actually became real. Disney confirmed the official name, ah-hem… Villains Land and gave us our first look at the two headline attractions. First is a roller coaster starring Maleficent, and the second is a dark ride hosted by the Evil Queen’s Magic Mirror. The Evil Queen, Cruella de Vil, and Dr. Facilier each get their own space inside the land. Disney has not announced an opening date. Based on the permits filed so far, most fan trackers are guessing somewhere between late 2027 and 2030.

Piston Peak National Park, the Cars-themed land replacing Rivers of America, is also a known project. What’s new: both rides finally have names. Cars Ridge Run Rally is the thrill ride, sending guests up a mountain and through a geyser field. Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along is the family-friendly one, a demolition derby starring a school-bus-sized Miss Fritter animatronic. Disney has not set an opening date.

Carousel of Progress was already closed for its overhaul before D23, and we already knew it was getting a new 1980s scene with a target reopening of late spring 2027. What we DIDN’T know: Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston are voicing Mother and Father. Can you imagine a more iconic duo? We can’t.

EPCOT

Spaceship Earth is all new news. Disney announced its first major story change in nearly 20 years, shifting the ride’s focus from communication to human connection while keeping the same trip through history. Disney has not shared closure or reopening dates yet.

Journey Into Imagination with Figment is also a fresh announcement. Disney confirmed the ride is being reimagined and that Dreamfinder is officially coming back. That’s all Disney shared. There is no concept art, no timeline, and no word yet on what happens to the current ride in the meantime.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Tropical Americas, the land replacing the old DinoLand, U.S.A., has been in the pipeline since 2024. D23 filled in the blanks: all three attractions now have official names and story details. Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent will feature an Audio-Animatronics figure modeled after Harrison Ford himself. Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, a ride through dark attraction, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos, a family-friendly carousel, round out the land. It’s still on track for 2027.

Expedition Everest’s Yeti is a surprise addition to the list. The massive animatronic has run in “B-mode,” using a strobe effect instead of full motion, for close to 20 years. Disney confirmed at D23 that it’s finally being repaired, though no timeline was given.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Monstropolis, the Monsters, Inc. land taking over the old Muppets Courtyard, is another project we already knew about. New at D23: parts of the land will start opening in 2027, ahead of its headliner. The suspended door-chase coaster will not be ready when the rest of the land opens, and Disney hasn’t set a date for it. What is coming in 2027: Harryhausen’s restaurant, the Glob Theater (with a brand new Disney Legend Randy Newman song called “Welcome to Monstropolis”), and the Scareporium gift shop.

Disneyland Resort

Disneyland Resort’s D23 news leaned more on updates than reveals. Most of what came out was new detail layered onto projects Disney had already confirmed, plus the one surprise fans had been hoping for: official word that Tomorrowland is finally getting reimagined.

Disneyland Park

Tomorrowland is getting a full reimagining. This one’s new. Disney promised more attractions and more open space, but this was more of an “it’s happening” reveal than a details reveal. Disney has not announced a timeline, but we’re hoping Tomorrowland is more like tomorrow and less like years away…

Remember… Dreams Come True, the nighttime fireworks spectacular, is coming back with refreshed projections starting in February 2027. That date is new.
Magic Happens, the daytime parade, is returning to Disneyland Park as part of a new “Calling All Dreamers” celebration. Disney has not attached a specific return date. We’re thrilled to see this fan favorite parade return.

Disney California Adventure Park

Coco, the boat ride, has been a known project since it was first announced. What’s new is the story detail: it’s set a year after the movie, the entrance features Miguel’s great-great-grandfather Hector Rivera, and boats carry guests through the Land of the Dead. There’s no height requirement. Disney has not announced an opening date for this ride either.

The Avatar experience is still on the books. Disney has not canceled it, despite rumors going into D23, and showed a new model of the boat ride on the show floor, confirming the project for Hollywood Land is still moving forward. What’s new is the timeline. Disney is shifting the project’s priority to focus resources on the new Tomorrowland project at Disneyland Park first, which pushes Avatar’s own opening further out. That delay has an upside for guests: Disney has pushed back the closure of Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!, the ride Avatar will eventually replace, again. Disney has not announced a new closure date.
Avengers Campus doubling in size isn’t new, but the timeline is. Two new attractions, Avengers: Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, are now confirmed for 2028. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, and Brie Larson are all reprising their roles.

World of Color isn’t getting a new name. Disney is retiring the current “World of Color – One” and bringing back the original “World of Color” title with an updated take, featuring new segments from films like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Toy Story. Holidays at the Disneyland Resort 2026: Dates, Haunted Mansion Holiday, and What’s New

The most magical time of year is coming back to the Disneyland Resort, and the calendar just changed. Disney first listed a November 18 start, then moved the season up five days. The holidays now run November 13, 2026 – January 6, 2027. Here is everything you need to start planning, including the Haunted Mansion Holiday dates and what is returning.

Here is something worth knowing before you compare coasts. At Walt Disney World, much of the marquee holiday entertainment lives behind a separately ticketed hard-ticket party like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or Jollywood Nights. At Disneyland, it works the other way around. Nearly all of the holiday magic is included with regular park admission. That means the parade, the fireworks, the ride overlays, the decor, and the snow on Main Street, with no separate party ticket required. It’s an amazing value if you’re looking for a holiday heavy Disney trip.

When Do the Holidays Start at Disneyland in 2026?

Holidays at the Disneyland Resort officially run November 13, 2026 – January 6, 2027. Both dates are now confirmed on the official Disneyland calendar.

Here is the twist worth knowing. Disney first listed a November 18 start, then moved it up five days to November 13. That original date would have been unusually late. The corrected date puts the season right back where it usually lands, on the second Friday of November, in line with the last couple of years.

The calendar leaves less than two weeks between the close of Halloween Time on October 31 and the start of the holidays. That is a fast turnaround for the crews swapping overlays and decor. If you are visiting in early November, expect a few attractions to sit behind refurbishment walls during the changeover.

Haunted Mansion Holiday: The Star of the Season

No overlay at Disneyland does it quite like Haunted Mansion Holiday. The classic attraction transforms into a collision of two holidays, with Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie, and the rest of the Halloween Town crew from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas taking over the eerie estate. The soundtrack changes. The pacing shifts. Entire rooms tell a different story.

The centerpiece is the gingerbread house in the ballroom scene. Disney’s teams build a brand-new design every single year, right down to a scent that fills the room. Tracking the new creation has become a tradition of its own for return guests.

One detail worth knowing: this is a single, continuous overlay. Haunted Mansion Holiday opens with Halloween Time and stays in place straight through the Christmas season. It does not close and reset between the two. So if you visit anytime from late August through early January, you are riding the holiday version.

That also means the classic Haunted Mansion is unavailable at Disneyland for most of the fall and winter. If you prefer the original, here is the good news: the classic Haunted Mansion runs year-round at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. It does not get the seasonal overlay, so you can experience the timeless version any time of year over in Florida.

Haunted Mansion Closure Dates for 2026

Here is the closure that surprises people. To install the overlay, the classic Haunted Mansion goes down for refurbishment first.

Haunted Mansion closed: August 8 – August 20, 2026
Reopens as Haunted Mansion Holiday: August 21, 2026 (the first day of Halloween Time)

If your trip falls in early-to-mid August, the attraction will be down while Jack and friends move in. Plan accordingly.

At the other end of the season, the overlay comes back out and the classic Haunted Mansion returns. That removal closure usually starts in early-to-mid January and runs roughly ten days to two weeks. Disney has not yet posted the 2027 removal dates. For reference, last season the overlay’s final day was January 11 and the classic ride reopened January 23. We will update this guide when the new dates appear on the calendar.

What Else Is Confirmed for the 2026 Holidays

During Disney’s “Halfway to the Holidays” celebration in late June 2026, the resort confirmed that several fan favorites are coming back. Nothing brand-new was announced, but the return of these classics is now official:

“it’s a small world” Holiday wraps the attraction in thousands of lights and blends the classic tune with carols like “Jingle Bells” and “Deck the Halls,” a Disneyland exclusive you will not find at Walt Disney World
Christmas in Cars Land brings the holiday overlays back to Radiator Springs including Mater’s Jingle Jamboree and Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl
Haunted Mansion Holiday continues from Halloween Time into the Christmas season, as noted above
A Christmas Fantasy Parade returns to Disneyland Park with festive floats, characters in their holiday best, and Santa
Believe… In Holiday Magic fireworks light up Sleeping Beauty Castle with pyro, projections, and snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A.

The Downtown Disney District has spent the last couple of years swapping out old favorites for a fresh lineup of restaurants, food halls, and carts. Some are already open and serving. Several more are on the way. Here is what you can eat right now, plus what to watch for next.

One quick note before you plan. Menus, hours, and prices change often, so always check the Disneyland app for the latest details before you go. You do not need a park ticket to eat in Downtown Disney, which makes it an easy date night or a relaxed first or last day of your trip.

New Downtown Disney Restaurants Open Now

Earl of Sandwich (New Permanent Flagship)

Opened June 26, 2026

The biggest news in the district right now. After years of pop-ups and temporary spots, Earl of Sandwich finally has a permanent two-story home near the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage, between Din Tai Fung and D-Lander. It is the largest Earl of Sandwich in the entire chain. You will still find the toasted hot sandwiches fans love, plus two new additions: The Carvery, an open carving station where pastrami is sliced fresh in front of you, and The Pub, serving draft beer, wine, and frozen cocktails. An expanded bakery rounds it out with oversized cookies and cinnamon rolls.

The restaurant is in its soft opening period now, with the official grand opening set for July 15, 2026. Meanwhile, the upstairs gastropub, Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby, is now open as well. You will find it in the next section.

Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby

Opened July 13, 2026 – SURPRISE!

Climb the stairs above Earl of Sandwich and you land in Gordon Ramsay’s 1960s British Invasion gastropub, named for London’s Carnaby Street. Disney confirmed the opening the same day service started, so this one arrived as a surprise. Inside, you will find three distinct dining spaces plus a large terrace overlooking the district. Live music plays on select nights, and the terrace also gives you a view of the fireworks on select evenings.

During the soft opening period, The Carnaby serves dinner nightly from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are expected in the coming months. Reservations are encouraged through OpenTable, although walk-ins are welcome based on availability. Disney has not announced a formal grand opening date yet.

Happy Ice

This world-famous Taiwanese brand picked Downtown Disney for its first-ever standalone, built-from-the-ground-up location. Expect handcrafted dumplings, family-style sharing, and a line worth planning around. Din Tai Fung uses its own reservation system, so book ahead and arrive hungry.

GG’s Chicken Shop

Vista Parkside Market

The upstairs full bar with two patio balconies. Sip signature cocktails, mocktails, frozen lemonades, and espresso martinis. Snag a spot on the right-hand balcony for a view of the bands on the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage at night.

Coming Soon to Downtown Disney

Here is where the district is headed next. One important heads-up: Disney has confirmed each of these restaurants is coming, but has not announced official opening dates for them. Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon

Taking over part of the former Tortilla Jo’s space, this full-service steakhouse comes from Michelin-starred Chef Joe Isidori. Look for prime cuts of beef, fresh seafood, chops, salads, and sandwiches, anchored by a lively center bar with an impressive bourbon list. Opening date not yet announced by Disney.

Pearl’s Roadside BBQ

Right next door to Arthur & Sons, and also from Chef Isidori, Pearl’s brings a quick-service barbecue option with house-made sauces. Opening date not yet announced by Disney.

Porto’s Bakery & Cafe

The Southern California fan favorite is finally coming to Downtown Disney, on the former La Brea Bakery and Earl of Sandwich site. This will be the first Porto’s with sit-down table service and a full bar. Out of all of the quick service options, this is the one we’re looking forward to the most. Opening date not yet announced by Disney.

What Disney says to expect: Porto’s signature Cheese Rolls, Potato Balls, Cuban-inspired pastries, cakes, and savory dishes. Portions are small, can be ordered a la carte and easily shared. We can’t wait to have a Porto’s feast in Downtown Disney!

Bopo Go!

Boba is coming to the district. Bopo Go! is a spinoff of Southern California’s Bopomofo Cafe from Eric and Philip Wang, built on high-quality ingredients with no artificial additives. It will take over the current Jamba location. Opening date not yet announced by Disney.

Big Boi Lumpia Co.

A Los Angeles-based Filipino comfort food cart from Chef Barb Batiste is joining the district, serving savory and sweet lumpia with signature dipping sauces. The location within Downtown Disney and the opening date have not been confirmed yet. (Its counterpart, the Happy Ice cart, is already open and listed above.)

To start, Disney World rolled out a batch of new dishes in the final days of June, and they are on menus now as you plan your July visit. In total, Disney Eats revealed 12 new items across two popular spots. First, a full seasonal refresh arrived at The Hollywood Brown Derby in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Meanwhile, a fresh set of bowls and desserts landed at Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT.
