Disney just gave animation fans a date to circle. On September 14, 2026, The Magic of Disney Animation opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Magic of Disney Animation anchors the newly reimagined Animation Courtyard, now presented as The Walt Disney Studios. At the center sits a building modeled after the iconic Roy E. Disney Animation Building. Fittingly, Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat perches right on top, exactly as it does on the real building in California. The whole experience takes its cue from the Emmy Award-winning short film Once Upon A Studio, which imagined classic Disney characters stepping off the screen and into the studio lot. Drawn to Wonderland

First up, younger guests get their own immersive indoor playground. Disney based Drawn to Wonderland on the original Alice in Wonderland concept art from Disney Legend Mary Blair. Consequently, the space bursts with bold colors and whimsical shapes. Little ones can climb and explore the Mad Tea Party, the Mad Hatter’s house, the Queen of Hearts’ rose garden, and the Cheshire Cat’s Tulgey Wood. Off the Page!

Next, Off the Page! turns character meet-and-greets into a tour of the animation process. Each area represents a different studio department, and a familiar face waits in each one. During your visit, you may spot:

Once Upon A Studio Theater and the Enchanted Art Gallery

Finally, a dedicated theater screens the short that started it all. Inside the Once Upon A Studio Theater, enhanced in-theater effects add an extra layer of magic, and characters may pop up within the artwork along the walls. Nearby, an enchanted art gallery looks like a traditional gallery at first. However, with a little pixie dust, your favorite characters spring to life in all-new animations created just for this space.

A Familiar Name Returns to Hollywood Studios

Longtime fans will recognize the title. The original Magic of Disney Animation welcomed guests for more than 25 years, running from 1989 – 2015 before it closed. This 2026 version is a completely different experience. Even so, it continues the same tradition of celebrating the artists and creativity behind Disney Animation. Disney World Holidays 2026: Changes, Confirmed Parties, and Events

The holidays at Walt Disney World Resort 2026 are now mapped out. Disney confirmed the full season on June 24, 2026, including two notable changes, both after-hours parties, and the festive offerings included with park admission. Here is everything confirmed so far, from the retired Grand Floridian gingerbread house to the expanded Christmas party dates.

What is confirmed for Disney World holidays 2026?

The 2026 holiday season at Walt Disney World runs November 13, 2026 – January 6, 2027. During that stretch, all four parks, the resort hotels, and Disney Springs get seasonal decorations, entertainment, and special food and drink.

Two separately ticketed parties headline the season. Plenty of seasonal fun also comes included with regular park admission. First, here are the changes you need to know about before you plan.

The Grand Floridian gingerbread house is retired for good

Disney has permanently retired the life-size gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It will not return for the 2026 season or any future year.

The display debuted in 1999 and became one of the most-visited holiday stops at Walt Disney World. It stood in the Grand Lobby and took the culinary team months to plan and build each year. The house also skipped 2025 because of the lobby remodel that brought in The Perch lobby bar.

In its place, the Grand Floridian culinary team will create smaller gingerbread displays around the resort. Disney has not released details on those displays yet. Expect more information closer to the start of the season.

Cinderella Castle Dream Lights will not return

The Cinderella Castle Dream Lights will not light up Magic Kingdom for the 2026 holidays. Many guests asked Disney to bring back the icicle effect, but it stays retired this year. Instead, Disney will use projection effects on the castle for its nighttime holiday look.

Which gingerbread displays are still happening?

The retirement applies only to the Grand Floridian. Disney expects its other resort gingerbread traditions to continue, including these favorites:

Disney Jollywood Nights returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for its largest season yet. The event runs 15 nights, November 7 – January 5, 2027, and extends into January for the first time.

This glitz-and-glamour party leans into vintage Hollywood. Confirmed entertainment includes the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! fireworks, the Glisten! ice show, Disney Holidays in Hollywood hosted by Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, and a Nightmare Before Christmas sing-along. Themed party zones return, including the Tip Top Club near Tower of Terror. Special character greetings include Duffy, Santa Stitch, and Disney Afternoon characters.

The event leans into a stylish, grown-up holiday vibe, so dress in your dapper best.

Disney Jollywood Nights 2026 dates

The party runs 15 select nights, November 7 – January 5, 2027. You can enter the park as early as 5:30 PM, and the event runs from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM.

That single discovery transformed the city. Fear gave way to curiosity. Caution gave way to connection. The doors that once separated the monster world from ours stopped feeling like barriers. What started inside Monsters, Inc. grew into a citywide shift in how monsters see humans.

Meet the Department of Human Relations

As Monstropolis changed, the city created a new team to manage the new relationship. Say hello to the Department of Human Relations. This is not your typical HR department. The city tasked this group with helping monsters understand humans as welcomed guests.

The department also spearheaded a moment once thought impossible. It invited humans into Monstropolis for the very first time. And that invitation has a name.

What Is H.U.M.A.N. Day?

H.U.M.A.N. Day stands for “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice.” It marks a historic milestone for the city. Part celebration and part cultural exchange, the event introduces humans to life inside Monstropolis. It also helps monsters learn that humans are not so frightening after all.

On H.U.M.A.N. Day, you get to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and experience the everyday world of monsters. Two worlds once kept apart finally meet face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face. Laughter brings them together, not screams.

Exploring the Streets of Monstropolis

Storefronts line the streets. Monster-run industries hum alongside everyday city life. Every corner reflects the quirky, character-filled world that fans first fell in love with. Disney has confirmed a couple of iconic stops so far.

Harryhausen’s

Yes, that legendary restaurant from the film. Monsters line up for it, and now you can too. Harryhausen’s is the headline dining news for Monstropolis, and Disney has officially confirmed it for the land. In the film, it is the upscale sushi spot where Mike takes Celia for her birthday, and it is famously tough to book. The restaurant takes its name from Ray Harryhausen, the legendary special effects pioneer whose creature work inspired the Monsters, Inc. design team. Its head chef is a six-armed octopus, a fun nod to the 1955 film It Came from Beneath the Sea. We can’t wait for a full menu reveal!

The Glob Theater

This city landmark adds even more personality and energy to the streets of Monstropolis.

Disney has teased that more locations are still to come, so expect additional details as the land gets closer to opening.

The Monsters, Inc. Doors Coaster

The land will also feature a major new attraction centered on the iconic door factory. Disney announced this ride as the first-ever suspended roller coaster at a Disney theme park. You zoom through the door vault much like Sulley does in the film. It anchors the land as the headline experience.

When Does Monstropolis Open at Disney World?

Disney has not announced an official opening date for Monstropolis. The land is actively under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and a project this large will likely need a longer construction timeline. Some outlets are guessing a 2028 debut. Until Disney confirms a date, though, we will not know for sure.

Today, we’ve got some rootin’ tootin’ news for ya! There’s a brand-new table-service restaurant coming to Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Upon entering Andy’s back yard, your you’ll be magically transformed to the size of a toy, surrounded by toys and playsets scattered throughout the area. And soon, you’ll discover that a new play area has been set up – and this time, it’s a rodeo! But of course, being Andy, it certainly isn’t a usual rodeo …

Using three cardboard boxes cut and taped together, Andy has created a new rodeo arena using some of his favorite toys, games, and play sets. And while some pieces are definitely western-themed, what makes this rodeo special is the broad assortment of toys that have been brought together to create a fun, colorful mashup-atmosphere that only a child could create.

Once inside, you will be surrounded by all of the rodeo festivities in-action as well as western town and train station play sets. And you just might spot some of your favorite Disney•Pixar characters scattered throughout the restaurant in the form of toys and game pieces including a toy version of Jessie riding on the back of a Trixie pull-toy and unique toy versions of Bo Peep and her sheep, all who appear to be performing in the rodeo together.

A feast of food is about to blow in for this year’s Flurry of Fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! From Nov. 8, 2018, to January 6, 2019, you can join us for this holly, jolly event and delight in festive shows, enchanting “snows,” holiday décor, Toy Story Land cheer, and yummy sweets and treats!

Watch as Sunset Boulevard becomes a winter wonderland and Hollywood Tower Hotel transforms with projections and laser effects depicting holiday stories of beloved Disney characters. At the end of every night, you can experience Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!: a Santa-sized spectacular jam-packed with holiday music, fireworks, special effects, and dazzling state-of-the-art projections.

You can also indulge in a flurry of sweets with the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Dessert Party. This special event features an array of holiday-themed snacks, decadent desserts, beer, wine, and specialty alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as character greetings and reserved viewing for Disney Movie Magic and Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!

Additionally, throughout the park you’ll find festive treats that’ll have your taste buds singing “Tis the season!” From gingerbread pops and holiday popcorn to hot chocolate flights and specialty cocktails, there’s so much to celebrate!
