If you’re like us, you have been craving a DOLE Whip® treat ever since reading the “Foodie Guide to All Your DOLE Whip Dreams” on the Disney Parks Blog. Well, we have even more mouth-watering news to share with you. Now at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, new Dole Whip soft-serve desserts are just the beginning to a summer of delicious treats.
Remember how Moana crossed an ocean of adventure to become a wayfinder, inspiring all of us to embrace the explorer in each of us? When traveling, we love exploring new and sweet culinary experiences. You don’t have to ask us twice to indulge our sweet tooth, especially when they come with a bit of Disney inspiration. Little ‘Opihi’s at Aulani Resort has plenty of options to satisfy your adventurous hunger for summer treats. The grab-and-go kiosk offers up a variety of beverages and sweet snacks that you can enjoy while dipping your feet in the sand on the beautiful Ko Olina beach.
Whether you are splashing down waterslides in the Waikolohe Valley pool area, snorkeling in Rainbow Reef or taking part in a scavenger hunt along the Menehune Adventure Trail, being an adventurous explorer at Aulani Resort definitely works up your appetite. To get you started on your summer treats to-eat list at Aulani Resort, here’s a sampling of some of the delicious desserts for you to enjoy:
The Moana Dole Whip Fresh Fruit Sundae features Dole Whip pineapple in a crispy waffle bowl topped with fresh pineapple, sprinkles and a white chocolate image of Moana.
Or have a Stitch Dole Whip Fresh Fruit Sundae with Dole Whip watermelon in a waffle bowl topped with sprinkles, fresh and a white chocolate image of Stitch.
You can also choose Mickey or Minnie Dole Whip treats or try them all during your stay.
Little ‘Opihi’s has a selection of treats for every taste bud. You can also choose a Chocolate Dipped Banana with Macadamia Nuts. I love this one because it features an image of Moana made of white chocolate.
My favorite singing turtle, ‘Olu Mel, has his own cupcake. You can find this adorably sweet confection at Mama’s Snack Stop.
Now, if you need one more treat to drench your Aulani Resort summer memories in, then definitely try a Mickey Shave Ice – Aulani Resort’s unique take on a refreshing local dessert with flavors like mango, pineapple, coconut, lilikoi, orange and guava. Just ask for three of the flavor options at the Pāpālua Shave Ice snack shop to create a magical rainbow of flavor.

Sanaa, located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village, is truly a unique dining experience. If you have not dined there, add it to your list today – it is a must-dine destination! The menu showcases African cooking with Indian flavors and offers delicious slow-cooked meats, salads, and plant-based dishes. And, don’t forget the live entertainment – views of exotic animals as they roam the Sunset Savanna as you dine.
The diversity of flavors at Sanaa, make it hard to decide which entrée to order. But one item is a definite – always start with the Indian-style bread service with all the flavorful accompaniments. (OK – the bread service and a glass of Pinotage or the African Starr Mojito!)
On the menu for lunch and dinner, in the lounge, and through Sanaa To Go (mobile order), the bread service is an offering of five different breads – traditional naan, garlic-ginger naan, spiced naan, onion kulcha, or paneer paratha all made in the restaurant’s tandoor ovens. Accompaniments include cucumber raita, roasted red pepper hummus, mango chutney, tomato-date jam, tamarind chutney, coriander chutney, garlic pickle, red chile sambal, and spicy jalapeño-lime pickle.
The Sanaa chefs shared an easy recipe for naan made in the oven so you can enjoy this delicious Indian-style flatbread at home as a side, make naan pizzas, or for sandwiches. As a bonus, they included their recipe for Cucumber Raita – a refreshing Indian condiment served with Indian-style breads, meat and rice dishes, or as a topping for a burger or chicken. Enjoy!
NAAN BREAD WITH CUCUMBER RAITA
Sanaa, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village
Naan Bread Makes 5 (8-inch) naan
3 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon coarse salt
1/2 tablespoon baking soda
1/2 cup milk
2/3 cup warm water
1 tablespoon canola oil
4 tablespoons butter, melted
Combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment; stir to combine.
Combine milk, water, and oil in a medium bowl; whisk to combine.
With mixer running, pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. As soon as mixture comes together, switch attachment to a dough hook and mix until dough is smooth and no longer sticky. Do not over-mix.
Cover bowl with plastic wrap and set aside at room temperature for 1 hour.
Place a pizza stone on a top rack of oven, positioned approximately 6 inches below the broiler. Preheat oven to 500°F for at least 30 minutes.
Divide dough evenly into 5 pieces. On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece into an 8-inch circle.
Turn oven to broil. Carefully slide one circle of dough onto the preheated pizza stone, and broil until bread is bubbled and golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes. Watch carefully, as the bread can burn very quickly. Repeat with remaining dough rounds.
Brush the warm bread with melted butter and serve immediately.
CUCUMBER RAITA Makes 2 cups
1 1/2 cups Greek-style plain yogurt
1 cup cucumber, peeled, seeded, and diced into small pieces
1/2 small jalapeño pepper, seeds and stem removed, minced
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, toasted and freshly ground
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon coarse salt
Combine all ingredients in medium bowl. Chill before serving.
Note: Always use caution when handling sharp objects and hot contents. Please supervise children who are helping or nearby. This recipe has been converted from a larger quantity in the restaurant kitchens. The flavor profile may vary from the restaurant’s version.

DOLE Whip® Day is July 19, honoring THE iconic sweet treat at Disney! Check out this all-new Disney Parks Foodie Guide to All Your Dole Whip Dreams with a list of current offerings to celebrate this special day.
The relationship between Dole Packaged Foods and Disney spans more than 45 years, starting in 1976 with the sponsorship of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland Park. Dole Whip (originally called Dole Pineapple Whip but later shortened to Dole Whip) was created in 1984 and debuted at Aloha Isle at Magic Kingdom Park that same year.
Since that time, Disney vacationers have been able to delight in this slightly tart frozen sweet treat throughout our parks and resorts – and on Disney Cruise Line! The Dole Whip original (and still most popular!) is pineapple. But we also offer lime, mango, orange, raspberry, strawberry, and seasonal flavors throughout the year at various locations in a cup, cone, in the form of a refreshing drink, and other unique serving vessels!
In celebration of Dole Whip Day and the reopening of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort on July 19, we are excited Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be offering an exclusive glittery Dole Whip just for the occasion! All you “Moana” fans get ready – from July 19 through 21 you can order the “Tamatoa-inspired” Dipped Cone – Dole Whip raspberry swirled with Dole Whip orange in a white chocolate-dipped waffle cone and coated with “shiny” gold sugar. Assuming you’ve created a free account, set some alerts, and have received some notifications of Disney dining availability, there are three ways to see dining availability. The first is through MouseDining.com’s Alert tab. Using the Alerts tab in the navigational menu, you’ll see all your active alerts. Any alerts with current availability will display “Reservation Available!” followed by the times available. Clicking on the times will redirect you to Disney’s website where you can complete your dining reservation.
Alternatively, and most commonly, you’ll be notified via email of the same availability. This email will come from support@mousedining.com with the subject line “MouseDining.com found reservation for [RESTAURANT NAME]. Simply open the email and follow the link besides the date and time to also be taken to Disney’s website where you can finalize your dining reservation.
Lastly, paid subscribers can receive text message notifications. The first link will take you directly to Disney’s website, and the second will take you back to MouseDining where you can mange your alert and account details. Regardless of your notification method, MouseDining sees and triggers a notification to be sent to all users with matching alerts within milliseconds – practically instantaneous. However, some email software and cell phone carriers can delay messages from getting to you. Email software often “fetches” email from a mail server. Mail servers are like post offices for email and delivery is often instantaneous. Your computer or phone acts like your residence or home and most email software must go to the mail server (or post office) to “fetch” the email. This often only happens every few minutes (common intervals are 5-30 minute). The best way to combat this is via “push” email. In this scenario, the mail server (post office) “pushes” the email to your email software automatically as soon as it is received.
Text messages don’t have the same delays, but they are beginning to come under more scrutiny by cell phone carriers. As such, cell phone carriers may delay a message to scan its contents to ensure it is safe and not spam before delivering to its final recipient. In rare cases, I’ve seen a complete block from a carrier, but this is often temporary as the system adjusts for current circumstances.
Regardless of how you receive your notifications, MouseDining goes to great lengths to use services with the highest deliverability rates. This is an ongoing problem that we’ll continue to monitor and update users on, but in nearly ALL cases, MouseDining is NOT the source of any delay.
Finally, if you have any questions or need help with receiving notifications yourself, please use the contact form on the website or follow the link below and I’m happy to help.
This tutorial wraps up the core services of MouseDining and the remaining tutorials will be tips, tricks, troubleshooting, and other general information. Thank you for your ongoing support and I look forward to bringing more Disney travel tools & services to you that will help make your Disney vacation even more magical.

I am so excited to announce you can now dine “underneath the lovely London sky” in the newly reimagined Cítricos at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which pays homage to the whimsy and elegance of Mary Poppins Returns. Taking subtle cues from the movie’s animated sequence, the dining room brings guests into a fanciful garden setting where you can “trip a little light fantastic” as you experience the restaurant surrounded by the glow from decorative lamps and chandeliers.
Chef Andres Mendoza crafted a new menu with starters like Sweet Corn Bisque with pickled fennel, popcorn, and fennel oil and a colorful Strawberry Salad with chamomile-infused goat cheese, frisée lettuce, bacon vinaigrette, and spiced sunflower seeds.
Entrées include Butter-poached Florida Cobia with mashed fingerling potatoes, grilled asparagus, and local mushrooms with a grapefruit beurre blanc or a delicious Guava Barbequed Short Ribs with aged cheddar creamy grits, roasted poblano, curtido slaw, and Brussels sprouts.
For a sweet ending to your meal, Pastry Chef Kristine Farmer created some truly delicious and decadent desserts such as Warm Apple Rose with seasonal apple, marzipan layers, and frozen coconut milk and the Chocolate Torte, a dark chocolate financier, dark cherry compote, and vanilla bean mascarpone cream.
The wine and cocktail program, designed by Sommelier Israel Perez, is exceptional. For those who enjoy an elevated food and wine experience, the new and exclusive Sommelier Room at Cítricos will allow Israel and his team to source boutique wines that pair with special creations from Chef Andres.
Cítricos will open on July 15, with bookings available on July 1.
