If you want to add a taste of New Orleans to your own cooking at home, we’ve got you covered with Mama Odie’s Hot Sauce and Dooky Chase’s Seasonings available in Gumbo Base, Seafood Seasoning, Meat Seasoning, and Fried Chicken Seasoning flavors. What makes these seasonings so unique is this is the first time they will be available outside of Dooky Chase’s Restaurant in New Orleans. This restaurant was owned and operated by the legendary Leah Chase – whose story was one of the inspirations for the character of Princess Tiana! These items will be available at the Emporium starting June 28 and Critter Co-Op once it opens.
For any coffee lovers out there, there’s also a new Joffrey’s blend you can bring home with you! Disney Tiana Bayou Beignet is a medium-roasted flavored coffee with flavor notes of honey and powdered sugar for a sweet sip. You can pick up your own bag at Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Co. at The Landing at Disney Springs or at Joffrey’s website.
Wow! So much exciting foodie news coming for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. June 28 can’t come soon enough.
Can you believe that Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “The Lion King” first graced our screens 30 years ago? To celebrate this momentous occasion, the culinary teams at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park have put together some adorably delicious bites and sips for you to enjoy starting June 10 and running through Sept. 9, 2024. As you go on your own adventures throughout the park, you can have a foodie one too!
Any fans of “The Lion King” will be embracing the spirit of hakuna matata as they indulge in limited-time delights that are far from grub. These new items feature some of your favorite characters from the beloved Disney Animation film, like Simba, Timon, Rafiki, and Zazu, all brought to life with tasty flavors.
Can you feel the flavor tonight? Well, your appetite sure can! Let’s get into what’s cooking over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom for the 30th Anniversary of “The Lion King”!
When exploring Discovery Island, there are multiple spots serving up can’t-miss “The Lion King” items. For a quick sip, Eight Spoon Café will be featuring The Simba. This refreshing mango-flavored slushy is combined with grenadine and topped with two gummy candies for some (sweet) grub. Over at Isle of Java, the culinary team has put together a truly unique dessert paying homage to none other than Timon’s iconic hula from the film. Timon’s Luau is a layered dessert with vanilla chiffon, passion fruit curd, guava jam, vanilla chantilly cream, an edible tropical flower for the lei, and mint for the hula skirt.
Before expanding your journey outside of Discovery Island, Tiffins Restaurant hasa sweet sip to indulge in. Rafiki’s Squash Banana is a shake blended with squash bananas, baobab fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, and cardamom. Yum! Also, the “Remember Who You Are” The Lion King 30th Anniversary Dessert is a truly beautiful offering. The Kenyan coffee mousse is filled with caramelized bananas, chai chantilly, banana-caramel sauce, chocolate-coffee crumble, chocolate decoration, and sugar sun. It is not to be missed on your next outing to Tiffins Restaurant.
As you venture over to Africa, you’ll come across several of these new treats. Tamu Tamu Refreshments will be home to the Zazu Ice Cream Sandwich. This refreshing bite sandwiches vanilla ice cream between two blue cake-coated sugar cookies with a chocolate medallion on top. Harambe Market also will have a sweet delight for you to try. The You Follow Old Rafiki Cheesecake is the perfect dish to give you “no worries.” This passion fruit-mango cheesecake has a coconut-lime crust, vanilla bean chantilly, and a chocolate medallion to finish it off. How adorable!
As we continue our foodie adventure throughout Disney’s Animal Kingdom for this momentous anniversary, we’re heading to DinoLand U.S.A. Here, there are multiple items worthy of a (lion) king. First, we’re dropping into Restaurantosaurus where there are two items on the way. The Shenzi Strawberry Lemonade is quite the refreshing sip and is inspired by one of the iconic members of the hyena trio in the film. It combines Minute Maid Premium Lemonade, Minute Maid Strawberry Smoothie, and blue curaçao syrup served with a souvenir glow cube.
Next up, if you love red velvet and villains, you’re in for a treat. The Rightful Ruler Cupcake, which is available both here and at Pizzafari, draws inspiration from Scar himself, so be prepared to be met with flavor. It’s a red velvet cake with cookies ‘n cream cheesecake filling and chocolate icing topped with a chocolate medallion on chocolate rocks.
Trilo-bites will be serving up a special item that also is available through September 9, and it features DOLE Whip! The Zazu DOLE Whip Lime and Coconut Float deliciously swirls DOLE Whip Lime into Sprite with coconut and blue curaçao syrup. It’s then topped with a white chocolate medallion. What could be better than “The Lion King” and DOLE Whip?
Last but certainly not least, at various outdoor food carts throughout the park, you’ll be able to get your paws, I mean hands, on the Simba Paw Cookie! This sugar cookie is too cute to pass up.
Are you excited for all of these “The Lion King”-inspired items coming soon? I know I am. What a delicious way to celebrate 30 years of this iconic film.

Both me and my stomach cannot wait to celebrate May the 4th this year! There’s truly no limit to the foodie adventures to be had at Disney Parks across the world.
Food lovers, get your taste buds ready for more exciting, all-new dining in the works at the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort! This spring, come savor innovative flavors and culinary creativity with three new Mexican dining experiences, plus learn the timing for the arrival of Din Tai Fung, future plans for more new restaurants and more sweet treats coming your way!
Sneak Peeks of Paseo, Céntrico and Tiendita, Celebrating Opening in May
With a vibrant expression of his native food and culture, Mexico’s first Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán is bringing authentic Mexican fare to the Downtown Disney District. His dishes will take guests on a multi-sensory journey to the heart of his homeland of Huitzuco, Mexico, through three distinctive concepts opening in the next few weeks: Paseo, Céntrico and Tiendita!
A stunning staircase will lead you to Paseo’s show-stopping dining room and bar area lined with rich woods, tiles, textures, leathers and custom accents that celebrate Mexico’s craftsmanship culture. An extended upper patio will offer exceptional new views of the district!
Chef Gaytán’s connection to his homeland comes to life as he pairs his love of Mexico with French culinary style and technique. Standout Paseo menu items will include colorful ceviches, Mama’s cochinita pibil (roasted marinated pork), lamb barbacoa and the mejillones (mussels) pictured above.
Céntrico, thecourtyard bar and restaurant, will be an energetic, central gathering place serving upscale Mexican cuisine and tequila-based cocktails. Its open, airy spaces designed with custom wood elements and lush greenery will welcome you into its outdoor canopy.
Céntrico’s featured dishes will include quesabirrias, chicken enchiladas, tlayuda (a Oaxacan shareable dish reminiscent of a pizza with a perfect crunch) and one of Chef Gaytán’s favorites, Caesar salad.
At Tiendita, you’ll experience Mexican heritage flavors and street-food staples on the go. Through a self-ordering kiosk, menu options will include esquites (roasted corn), fish tacos, ice cream- stuffed chocolate tacos, and breakfast favorites like chorizo breakfast burritos and chilaquiles (marinated tortilla chips with egg). You may even see the expert culinary team at work, adding to the experience!
Chef Gaytán recently led a cooking demonstration at the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival giving festival-goers a first look at his tetelas, which are stuffed corn masa triangles that will be on the menu at Paseo. The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival runs through April 22, 2024. Check out the Disney Eats Foodie Guide for a complete list of this year’s marketplaces and menu items!
Din Tai Fung Opening This Summer
Another delicious update! Din Tai Fung, a Michelin-awarded restaurant brand from Taiwan, will open this summer in the district, bringing their signature soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), wontons, noodles, steamed buns, bok choy, pork chop fried rice and other flavorful dishes served family style.
New Steakhouse and BBQ Concepts Coming to Downtown Disney
We’re excited to let you in on more mouth-watering plans we have underway! Two newrestaurant concepts – a steakhouse restaurant and an adjacent barbecue eatery – are in the works for the Downtown Disney District. These will be located on the footprint of the former Tortilla Jo’s. We look forward to sharing more, soon!
Expansion and Reimagination Coming to Marceline’s Confectionery
Something sweet is underway at Marceline’s Confectionery. We’re designing an all-new, expanded and completely reimagined confection experience featuring your favorite treats and fun new tasty offerings! While work on this location will soon be in progress, you can visit Marceline’s cart coming soon to the district to pick up your caramel apples, churro toffee and other handcrafted goodies.
During this transformation of Marceline’s, The Disney Dress Shop has temporarily moved to the WonderGround Gallery location, and select items from WonderGround Gallery may be found in Disney Home.
What are you looking forward to tasting? And don’t forget, there are plenty of great places right now to enjoy a memorable meal or grab an iconic Disney treat in Downtown Disney District!

THE PROSPECTOR’S HOMEMADE CHEDDAR BISCUITS WITH SWEET PEPPER JELLY
Roundup Rodeo BBQ
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Makes 12 Biscuits
SWEET PEPPER JELLY
3 large red bell peppers, diced
1/2 cup diced Spanish onion
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 cup white vinegar
1 cup sugar, divided
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
2 teaspoons pectin
CHEDDAR BISCUITS
1 cup unsalted butter, frozen
1 1/2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 cups cake flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon coarse salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/3 cups buttermilk
2 cups shredded yellow cheddar cheese
1/2 cup clarified butter, warmed
Sea salt, to taste
FOR SWEET PEPPER JELLY:
Purée red bell pepper and onion in food processor until smooth.
Bring puréed pepper mix, red pepper flakes, vinegar, 3/4 cup sugar, and salt to boil in medium saucepan. Reduce heat to simmer and continue simmering, stirring occasionally with rubber spatula, for 10-15 minutes, until reduced by slightly less than 1/3.
Combine pectin and remaining 1/4 cup sugar in small bowl. Add to simmering pepper mix. Stir constantly for 5 minutes until jelly thickens.
Pour into heatproof bowl to cool. Cool at room temperature for 30 minutes. Cover, and refrigerate until ready to use.
Pepper jelly can made ahead and stored in the refrigerator up to 7 days.
FOR CHEDDAR BISCUITS:
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line baking sheet with parchment and set aside.
Grate frozen butter using a food processor with shredding disk or cheese grater. Set aside.
Whisk bread flour, cake flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in large mixing bowl. Add frozen shredded butter and whisk until butter is evenly distributed.
Add buttermilk and shredded cheese and stir with spoon until soft dough forms.
Transfer dough to a floured surface and roll into 1/2-inch thick rectangle.
Fold dough into thirds and roll to flatten slightly. Repeat 3 times. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
Cut into circles using a 3-inch round biscuit cutter. Place on prepared baking pan.
Bake for 14-15 minutes, until tops are golden and the bottom of the biscuits begin to brown.
Remove from oven and brush with warm clarified butter and sprinkle desired amount of sea salt on top.
Always use caution when handling sharp objects and hot contents.
