New Savi’s Workshop Lightsaber Offering and More

News By April 25, 2025 No Comments
Choose Your Path
  • Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers will soon debut a brand-new hilt theme called “Reclaimed and Reforged” at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort
  • This new, limited-time offering will be available on Planet Batuu starting May 4, 2025, while supplies last
  • Guests will be able to build their own lightsabers from scraps that have been scavenged by different pirates throughout the galaxy and made their way to Batuu

As just discussed at the Walt Disney Imagineering panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan, guests will soon be able to chart a new path inside Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort for a limited time beginning May 4, 2025!

Reclaim and Reforge New Savi’s Workshop Lightsabers

The remains of ancient battles, crashed ships and other abandoned pieces of scrap can be found all over the galaxy. To most people it may look like junk, but to the resourceful Jedi, it may just be the key to constructing a new lightsaber.

In the new hilt theme titled “Reclaimed and Reforged,” guests will be able to build their own lightsabers from scraps that have been scavenged from the distant reaches of the galaxy’s outer rim and have made their way to Batuu. When brought together, they form something entirely new — yet forever bound to the mysteries of the past.

New Savi’s Workshop Lightsaber Offering and More

Each guest’s story begins the moment they meet one of Savi’s Gatherers outside his workshop, where they will choose one available hilt theme for their experience. While “Reclaimed and Reforged” is only available for a limited time, guests can still choose from four other themes year-round inside Savi’s Workshop:

  • Peace and Justice
  • Power and Control
  • Elemental Nature
  • Protection and Defense

Next, guests will enter the workshop and begin to assemble their hilt, where parts will be provided based on their theme and identifiable cloisonné pin. Above, guests can see a few parts available from “Reclaimed and Reforged”, where each box of parts includes:

  • 1 hilt
  • 4 sleeves (pick 2)
  • 2 emitters (pick 1)
  • 2 pommel caps (pick 1)
  • 2 sets of activation plates and switches (pick 1 set)
New Savi’s Workshop Lightsaber Offering and More

Once the hilt is completed and any unused parts are returned to Savi’s inventory, it will finally be time to connect the hilt to a lightsaber blade!

Whether the chosen kyber crystal makes your blade ignite red, blue, green or violet is up to you – will you follow the ways of the Jedi, or harness the dark side of the Force like the Sith?

Ready to transform these scattered and reclaimed parts into elegant tools that symbolize the balance of the Force? Purchase is required and advanced reservations are highly encouraged for this experience at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, and the experience area is limited to the builder and two guests, where at least one person in the party must be age 14 or older.

Explore Batuu and Show Off in Even More Star Wars Spirit

In the panel, Imagineers also discussed how interactive experiences expand beyond attractions inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, such as in the land’s merchandise and food and beverage. Check out this life-size MSE droid that guests can remote control, or even the classic refreshment orbs with Aurebesh writing that can be purchased throughout the land on both coasts.

Every creative decision is made with care in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to ensure an immersive experience for all guests, whether guests are constructing their very own droid inside Droid Depot or shopping for a rotating collection of mysterious galactic artifacts inside Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.

New Savi’s Workshop Lightsaber Offering and More

Plus, our panel moderator, Ashley Eckstein (the voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels), has brought some of her influence from the Star Wars galaxy to Disney Experiences! Items from Her Universe, the groundbreaking fangirl fashion company featuring dresses, tees, jackets and more, are now available at Disneyland Resort and coming soon to Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Store.

Fly the New “Mandalorian” Adventure on the Millennium Falcon Next May

Starting May 22, 2026, at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, a new and interactive adventure is also coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run that will allow guests to control the iconic ship like never before.

For the first time ever, the crew will be in control of their own story alongside Din Djarin and Grogu, leading to potential adventures on Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star around Endor or the just-announced bustling city-planet, Coruscant.

Disney’s MICHELIN Star Restaurant: Victoria & Albert’s Retains MICHELIN Star Rating in 2025

General By April 19, 2025 No Comments

This year, cast members at Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the culinary crown jewel of Walt Disney World, are celebrating the honor of retaining their status as a MICHELIN star restaurant!

Cast at Victoria & Albert's

For over 20 years cast have provided a signature dining experience known for its lavish setting, offering a multi-course dining experience that features carefully curated menus with premium and sustainable ingredients sourced from around the world.

Cast at Victoria & Albert's
Maître d’Hôtel and Walt Disney Legacy Award Winner Israel Perez showcases the current Victoria & Albert’s seasonal menu

“The ingredients drive the menu,” Chef de Cuisine and Walt Disney Legacy Award Winner Matthew Sowers explains. “We use the freshest seafood and highest quality meat from across the globe as the base of our dishes. For example, the Glacier 51 Toothfish on the current menu can only be found in the Arctic more than one mile under the ocean’s surface.”

Creating an experience where timeless traditions seamlessly blend with modern culinary artistry takes teamwork, and there’s no shortage of it in the Victoria & Albert’s kitchen. Guests are served a wide range of small courses inspired by the culinary team’s travels, cultural backgrounds and personal stories.

Cast at Victoria & Albert's

“The Miyazaki A-5 Wagyu on the current menu is inspired by Chef Miguel’s Venezuelan roots. During the winter months, beef and cabbage are staple ingredients in his family’s meals,” shares Sharon, a cast member who has served at the restaurant for over 20 years. “And the Norwegian King Crab is a nod to Chef Gabriella’s home country of Norway. We have Chefs from all over the world bringing their stories to life in every dish – curating a fine dining experience in a way only Disney can.”

Cast at Victoria & Albert's

Always evolving, the menu of Disney’s MICHELIN star restaurant shifts with the season, delighting returning guests with new and unique flavors every time every visit. With a world-class wine collection boasting over 500 selections, each course is thoughtfully paired to enhance the experience from start to finish.

But ask the team what they believe is the secret to their success, and you won’t hear them talk about stars or awards.

“It’s because we’re a family. We all really do care for the restaurant and each other,” says Chef Nathan, who moved from Pennsylvania to Florida to join the Victoria & Albert’s culinary team due to its strong reputation. “Every single one of us goes above and beyond. We have a shared vision of excellence.”

Victoria & Albert’s remains the first and only restaurant owned and operated by a U.S. theme park destination to hold a MICHELIN Star. The cast are an incredible example of how Walt Disney World continues to raise the bar for exceptional dining – from iconic Disney-themed snacks and immersive restaurants in the parks, to unforgettable fine dining experiences like this one.

Congratulations to the cast of Victoria & Albert’s on this extraordinary distinction!

Sip and Savor Pass for Festivals at Disney California Adventure Park

News, Special Events By March 27, 2025 Tags: , No Comments

Disney California Adventure park at Disneyland Resort presents lively, limited-time festivals at various times throughout the year, featuring upbeat live entertainment, merchandise and – of course – many selections of specialty food and beverages!

For each festival, the talented Disneyland Resort culinary team develops tasting-sized bites, nonalcoholic beverages and more inspired by the seasons or celebration. With a range of dining options to choose from, tasting your way through a festival is often an attraction on its own.

If you’re planning to try multiple items during a festival at Disney California Adventure, purchasing a Sip and Savor Pass* could offer greater value and convenience on the foodie fun.

What Is a Sip and Savor Pass?

Available for a separate fee, a Sip and Savor Pass is a scannable credential that includes a specified number of digital coupons, which can be redeemed for a select food item or nonalcoholic beverage at festival marketplaces or participating dining locations at Disney California Adventure park during the designated festival.

The number of digital coupons included in a Sip and Savor Pass can vary by festival. For the 2025 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, the Sip and Savor Pass comes in four- and eight-coupon options.

The pass enables you to purchase select menu items at a flat rate, rather than purchasing them at their listed prices.

Which Festivals Offer the Sip and Savor Pass?

A Sip and Savor Pass purchased at a festival is valid only during that festival for that year.

Lunar New Year (typically in January and February): Celebrating Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean traditions through food and entertainment, Lunar New Year features Asian-inspired delights with a Disney twist, such as noodles, bao buns and more.

Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival (typically in March and April): This festival honors the diverse and delicious California food scene with dozens of tasty bites and sips. The beverage menu includes craft beer, curated wines and nonalcoholic creations.

Disney Festival of Holidays (typically in November, December and early January): A diverse season of various holiday celebrations are honored with multicultural performances and festive food and beverages.

Where to Purchase a Sip and Savor Pass

On the day of your Disney California Adventure visit, Sip and Savor Passes can be purchased at various locations around Disney California Adventure park, which may include:

The latest available pricing information can be found on Disneyland.com. A Sip and Savor Pass cannot be purchased in advance, online or on the Disneyland app.

How to Use a Sip and Savor Pass

There are many marketplaces and participating dining locations peppered around the park, each serving a unique selection of food and beverages.

The menu and selection of Sip and Savor Pass-eligible items rotates by festival and by year. Examples of featured items have included:

  • Quesabirria egg roll from the 2025 Lunar New Year celebration
  • Lemon pepper wings available during the 2025 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival
  • Musubi fried rice available during the 2025 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival
  • Pork belly adobo from the 2024 Disney Festival of Holidays

To see which locations accept the Sip and Savor Pass and the latest list of which menu items are eligible to be redeemed with one, you can check the Disney Eats Foodie Guide to the festival on the Disney Parks Blog, visit Disneyland.com or search “Sip and Savor Pass” on the Disneyland app.**

Sip and Savor offerings at participating dining locations are tasting-size portions only, not full entrées.

Redeeming your digital coupons on your Sip and Savor Pass is easy! When ordering, let a cast member at the location scan your Sip and Savor Pass. Then, enter the four-digit code shown on your pass at checkout. The cast member will also be able to tell you how many coupons you have left.

Benefits and Value of a Sip and Savor Pass

Shareable: If you plan to indulge in the gastronomic goodness with a group, a Sip and Savor Pass can be shared between friends and family for a hassle-free tasting experience.

Valid for the entirety of the festival of that year: A Sip and Savor Pass can be used over multiple visits to the festival it was purchased during – a helpful benefit for those on multi-day vacations, Magic Key holders or locals who plan to come back another day. A Sip and Savor Pass expires at the end of the specified festival of that year.

Save time with convenient ordering: Sip and Savor Passes come attached to a lanyard you can wear, making them easily accessible throughout your epicurean adventure. You’ll save time by not having to worry about sifting through your bag or wallet when ordering!

Ordering ahead saves even more time by allowing you to wait in one line to order from select marketplaces.*** You can purchase available marketplace food and beverage items at any one marketplace. Then, pick up your order from the respective marketplace locations by presenting your receipt at each location’s pick-up window. An order-ahead purchase must be picked up on the same day of the purchase. On the day of your visit, you can ask a cast member for more details.

For example, if you’re craving two items from one marketplace and two from another, you can order all four items at one marketplace and collect them at each marketplace’s respective pick-up window.

Save money when sampling multiple items: The listed prices for festival food and beverages can vary by item. You can maximize the value from your Sip and Savor Pass by using your digital coupons to redeem eligible, higher-priced items.

Magic Key holders can also save on the purchase of select Sip and Savor Pass options with a special discount and lanyard.

7 Greens Gumbo with Chicken & Andouille Sausage Recipe from Tiana’s Palace

Cooking Up the Magic at Home By March 5, 2025 No Comments

We’re getting close to the summer opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom Park, and later this year at Disneyland park. To celebrate, the culinary team from Tiana’s Palace at Disneyland park shared a recipe for 7 Greens Gumbo with Chicken & Andouille Sausage.

Roasted vegetables, seasoned chicken, andouille sausage and cannellini beans come together with seven different greens to create a hearty and flavorful dish. If you want the 7 Greens Gumbo to be a plant-based dish, it can easily be served without the chicken and andouille sausage.

Serves 4

ROASTED VEGETABLES

  • 1 cup diced sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup diced yams
  • 1 cup sliced okra
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

CHICKEN AND ANDOUILLE SAUSAGE

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 12 ounces mild andouille sausage, sliced
  • 1/2 pound boneless chicken thighs, diced
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning mix

GUMBO

  • 2 (15 1/2 ounce) cans cannellini beans, divided
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning mix
  • 1 tablespoon gumbo filé
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 bunch collard greens, stems removed and cut into thin strips
  • 1 bunch mustard greens, stems removed and cut into thin strips
  • 1 bunch Swiss chard, stems removed and cut into thin strips
  • 1 bunch kale, stems removed and cut into thin strips
  • 1 bunch spinach, cut into thin strips
  • 2 cups watercress, larger stems removed and cut into thin strips
  • 1 bunch parsley, finely chopped
  • 4 cups vegetable stock, divided
  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • Reserved Chicken and Andouille Sausage
  • Reserved Roasted Vegetables
  • Hot sauce, to taste

FOR ROASTED VEGETABLES:

  1. Combine yams, sweet potatoes, okra and vegetable oil in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and rest at room temperature for 20 minutes.
  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Roast vegetables for 10-12 minutes, until browned and fully cooked.
  1. Keep warm until ready to serve.

FOR CHICKEN AND ANDOUILLE SAUSAGE:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in medium sauté pan over medium heat for 5 minutes, until hot. Add sliced andouille sausage and cook for 5-6 minutes, until browned. Transfer to plate using slotted spoon.
  1. Season chicken thighs with Cajun seasoning and add to sauté pan, scraping up any browned bits from the andouille sausage. Cook over medium heat for 6-8 minutes, until chicken thighs are fully cooked. Transfer to plate using slotted spoon.
  1. Keep warm until ready to serve.

FOR GUMBO:

  1. Purée one can of cannellini beans in a blender or food processor; set aside.
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes, until hot. Add puréed beans and cook, stirring continuously for 15 minutes, until tan in color.
  1. Add onions and sauté for 6 minutes, until translucent. Add bell pepper and celery and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in garlic, Cajun seasoning, gumbo filé, salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  1. Add 2 cups of vegetable stock and bring to a simmer. Slowly add collard greens, mustard greens, Swiss chard and kale, stirring to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes. Drain liquid from remaining can of cannellini beans. Add to skillet with remaining 2 cups of vegetable stock, spinach, watercress and parsley. Stir to combine. Add additional salt and pepper, as needed.
  1. Ladle into bowls with rice. Top with reserved Chicken and Andouille Sausage and Roasted Vegetables. Add a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce, to taste.

Cook’s Note: For a plant-based version of this recipe, omit the chicken and andouille sausage.

Always use caution when handling sharp objects and hot contents.

Please supervise children who are helping or nearby.

This recipe has been converted from a larger quantity in the restaurant kitchens.

The flavor profile may vary from the restaurant’s version.

Mama Odie’s Hot Sauce
Dooky Chase's Gumbo Base Seasoning

If you like a little extra kick in your gumbo, try a few dashes of Mama Odie’s Hot Sauce; it’s the bee’s knees!

And for a special treat, Dooky Chase’s Gumbo Base can be used in place of the gumbo filé. If Dooky Chase’s Restaurant sounds familiar, that’s because it’s the restaurant that was owned and operated by the legendary chef Leah Chase! Her story was one of the inspirations for the character of Princess Tiana in Walt Disney Animation Studios “The Princess and the Frog,” and later in the development of the upcoming attraction by Walt Disney Imagineering — Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

You can find Mama Odie’s Hot Sauce and assorted Dooky Chase’s Seasonings this summer at Main Street Confectionery and Critter Co-Op when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens at Walt Disney World Resort this summer and later this year at Disneyland park. We’re excited this will be the first time guests can buy Dooky Chase’s Gumbo Base, Seafood Seasoning, Meat Seasoning and Fried Chicken Seasoning outside of Dooky Chase’s Restaurant!
