This third video in a tutorial series of 10 describes how to set and manage your MouseDining.com alerts. These alerts help you get last-minute and hard-to-find dining reservations at Disney restaurants. To set an alert, you can do this from the main navigation menu of the site, or from any restaurant page within the availability calendar.
A MouseDining alert consists of 5 things: Date, Restaurant, Party Size, Meal, and Preferred Time – in that hierarchy. It’s important to note that Alerts are simultaneous and limited. Free accounts get 6 alerts, monthly subscribers get 50 alerts, and annual subscribers get 100 alerts. Notifications, however, are limitless. Notifications are the email or text messages MouseDining sends to notify you of a match to your alert. Think of an alert as an alarm that you set. When this criteria is met, we sound the alarm in the form of a notification. When setting alerts, you can prioritize and strategize your alerts to get more from the MouseDining service.
My recommendation is to start out broad, snagging any dining reservation at the restaurant(s) you most anticipate dining at. Then, once you secure a less-than ideal dining reservation, narrow the parameters of your alerts to try for a more ideal dining reservation. Another tip is to consider planning your days around your dining plans instead of trying to fit your dining plans into your day. You’ll find it much easier to get dining reservations this way.

Disney is Conjuring Up the Magic for our #HalfwaytoHalloween takeover and treating you to four wickedly delicious recipes – perfect for when you socialize with your own grim grinning ghosts! They have autumnal pumpkin and apple recipes plus Disney villain-inspired deviled dragon eggs and a delicious, healthful smoothie.
Also, check out the scary good limited-time treats offered at Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes (Downtown Disney District) and The Ganachery and Gideon’s Bakehouse (Disney Springs) during our Halfway to Halloween celebration! Grab them before they disappear like a ghost!
Bad has never tasted so good! These first two recipes are from the soon-to-be-released Disney Villains: Devilishly Delicious Cookbook, where the iconic villains from Disney’s film library are the inspiration for the recipes.
Hades from Disney’s animated feature film, Hercules, inspired the recipe for Underworld Smoothies. This smoothie plays off Hades’ two moods: blue flames for hair when he’s calm and red flames when angry. You mix a blue and red smoothie separately, then pour both into the same glass for a healthful dose of Hades’ feelings! Click here for a print-at-home version of this recipe.
Even Maleficent would approve of these Deviled Dragon Eggs! Cleverly using red cabbage water to create the unique coloring of these eggs, this recipe takes a bit of time, but the “terrifying” results are sure to impress! Click here for a print-at-home version of this recipe.
You now have the opportunity to pre-order this cookbook featuring these two as well as other devilish dishes. Why not make it a Disney movie night complete with matching your movie choice to a Disney villain recipe? Sounds like a wickedly good time!
This Pumpkin Muffin recipe comes from the recipe vault at Disneyland Park. Served at past Halloween Time celebrations at Jolly Holiday Bakery Café, these perfectly pumpkiny muffins get a sprinkle of streusel on top for that right hint of sweetness. Happy fall, y’all! Click here for a print-at-home version of this recipe.
Promise this is not a trick but a delicious treat – an exclusive recipe for Disney Parks Blog readers! We coaxed our festival chefs to give us a preview of an autumnal recipe from the upcoming EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival (starting Jul. 15 and running through Nov. 20), and they sent us a recipe for Apple Crumble Tarts. My foodie pal, Katie, made them (you know, for me to make sure they are perfect for this post!), and we both can attest they are REALLY good and REALLY cute! Who can resist a tiny apple pie with crumble topping? Not me!
Here is a sneak peek of the delicious limited-time specialty offerings brewing in our cauldrons for Halfway to Halloween – from pumpkin pie milkshakes to creepy-cool cookies!
Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes at Downtown Disney District
The Classic Pumpkin Pie Shake – Black Tap’s take on fall flavors with a pumpkin pie shake topped with whipped cream, graham cracker crumbles, and a cherry (available May 7-9)
Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs
You may already know Gideon’s Bakehouse cookies are mysterious and delicious, but did you also know they are masters of disguise? That’s why, as part of the Halfway to Halloween takeover, a selection of their dreadfully good confections will masquerade themselves as hand pies. Don’t be fooled by their flaky, buttery crusts – once you take a bite, you’ll recognize the rich, decadent flavor of a Gideon’s Bakehouse cookie baked inside!
Gideon’s Hand Pies – A handmade Gideon’s Bakehouse Chocolate Chip Cookie baked inside a flaky, buttery pie crust (available May 10-12 while supplies last; limit two per person)
The Ganachery at Disney Springs
Pssssst … to get this frightfully delicious treat, check @disneyparks on TikTok throughout Saturday, May 8, to learn the secret, scary phrase to order!
Cauldron Cocoa Bomb – Dark chocolate cauldron filled with hot cocoa mix and green marshmallows topped with an edible image of the Sanderson Sisters and a chocolate broom stirrer (available May 10-12 while supplies last; limit two per person)
Starting May 16, Chef Mickey’s will offer an all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style dinner that will include “no touch” appearances like snapping a selfie or waving hello as Mickey Mouse and some of his favorite pals make surprising appearances in each of the dining rooms. Similar to other character dining locations, Guests will take home a souvenir with character signatures and colorful artwork.
Seeing your favorite characters isn’t all you can look forward to at Chef Mickey’s! The dinner menu will include items for the whole family, like starters of “Chef Mickey’s Caesar,” citrus-poached shrimp salad, and assorted breads; main courses of gnocchi, roasted garlic potato Gratin, plant-based faro wheat fried rice, prime rib, roasted turkey, and salmon; and an assortment of sweets to top off the meal. Little ones in your family can enjoy mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, turkey corn dog nuggets, and more!
Cape May Café
If you ever dream of escaping to the beach and enjoying all the delicious food of an oceanside town, you’ll be happy that Cape May Café at Disney’s Beach Club Resort reopens on May 18! The New England-style restaurant is a perfect location to refuel before and after a day of adventure at Walt Disney World.
Guests returning to Cape May Café will find old favorites and new changes, along with its signature service and quality. The restaurant will serve breakfast and dinner, but Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast and the Seafood-and-More Dinner Buffet will not return at reopening.
That’s not to say there aren’t plenty of treats in store! The all-you-care-to enjoy family-style breakfast menu will feature popular staples like pastries (including the layered crispy, cream-filled “Lobster Tail”), omelets, and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse waffles. Highlights from dinner will include house-made Parker House rolls and corn bread, a seafood boil with a variety of fresh seafood, The Turf Platter with steak and chicken, and – my personal favorite – lobster mac and cheese.
Bookings for Cape May Café and dinnertime at Chef Mickey’s open on May 7.
Tusker House Restaurant
The guest-favorite character dining location at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Tusker House Restaurant, will reopen this summer! During the modified character experience, guests will enjoy delicious family-style entrees inspired by the flavors of Africa and can snap photos of Donald Duck and friends, dressed in their safari best as they promenade through the restaurant. We will share more about the menu and reservation information soon.
Disney looks forward to welcoming you back to Cape May Café and for dinnertime at Chef Mickey’s later this month. And they can’t wait for you to savor the delicious African-inspired fare at Tusker House Restaurant in the coming months. Stay tuned for more scrumptious details and foodie news in the coming weeks!
This second tutorial video in a series of 10 describes how to register for a free MouseDining account. I recap how setting up a free MouseDining account can help you get your coveted Disney dining reservations, and walk you through the process, screen by screen, and explain why I ask for the information I do. Then, I show you the verification email that you receive when setting up your account, and where to place the verification code to verify your first alert method.
Alert methods can be disabled from the new account and manage pages once you’re logged in, and additional email alert methods can be added for free accounts using the same verification process. Now, you’re all set to create some alerts and be notified the moment MouseDining sees dining reservations come available at a Disney restaurant! Give it a try and see for yourself by registering a free account using the link at the top of this description.
Calling all Super Hero recruits! We recently shared first-look images of Avengers Campus, opening at Disney California Adventure park on June 4. Today, we’re excited to take you back inside of Avengers Campus for a closer look at just some of the details you may come across as you visit the different addresses. But first, did you know that Campus stands for Centralized Assembly Mobilized to Prepare, Unite, and Safeguard? Now you know!
The main entrance to the land is located adjacent to the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as WEB, however, the land also features a back entrance just outside of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, one of the land’s anchor attractions. Touring this area, we discovered a curious substance.
A late addition to the Campus, Taneleer Tivan, a.k.a. the Collector, placed his Fortress against its edges. This placement warped the ground immediately surrounding the alien stronghold causing a cosmic disruption to ooze from the ground below. Hues of blues, purples and yellows glow in the daylight. Pretty rad, huh?
Nearby, The Collector is also curating a weird and wonderful menu of intergalactic eats at the Terran Treats food cart. Just one of his curious creations, the Sweet Spiral Ration Churros will feature unique and unexpected flavors. You never know what you’re going to get, but trust us, they are delicious!
Around the corner, Pym Test Kitchen featuring Impossible™ is a food innovation science lab where the food and drinks tell a story. As we’ve shared before, just as Ant-Man and The Wasp use “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies applies this innovative science to the creation of inventive-sized foods, like the pretzels that grow and shrink as they pass through the quantum tunnel. This logic also applies to the beverages and condiments, seen here overhead in the beverage and condiment station. No appetite is too big or too small here!
Back outside, we come to the heart of the land – Avengers Headquarters, where you will find the emblematic Avengers “A” on the building and surrounding areas. At Avengers HQ, you may catch a glimpse of the Avengers springing into action, ready to save the day. A shining Quinjet sits atop its roof as a beacon for the campus.
Close by, but what feels like is located in another dimension are the overgrown ruins of an Ancient Sanctum. For as long as anyone can remember, rumors of unexplained events and energies have emanated from this remote location. Here, you’ll learn mysterious secrets from Doctor Strange and discover ancient, magical artifacts. Pictured here, the Orb of Cagliostro is known to be especially active at night when it flows with magical energy!
And for our final stop on today’s tour, we come to the front of the land. Back in the 1940s, Tony Stark’s father built a Stark Motors factory here in California, and decades later, Tony transformed the site into the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as WEB. This is the place where bright innovators like Peter Parker have been assembled by Tony Stark to invent new technologies and equip everyday people to become heroes. While the Avengers themselves are sleek, organized, and structured, WEB is expressive, youthful and chaotic. You’ll notice this throughout WEB. For example, outside the former factory building, you can’t miss the colorful graffiti murals created by young recruits with a knack for the arts.
Okay, that concludes our tour for today, but there’s more to discover as you wander the campus. We can’t wait for you to share your findings when you visit.
After 412 days following the longest unscheduled closure in the park’s history, Disneyland officially re-opened on April 30, 2021. Sadly as we all know – currently only for California residents until further restrictions are lifted. But it’s back! DOLE Whips®, Matterhorn Macaroons, Pomme Frites, they’re all back! But there are some changes and important things you need to be aware of that we outline below.
Disneyland Quickservice (Open)
Bengal BBQ
French Market Restaurant
Galatic Grill
Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe (Matterhorn Macaroons)
Mint Julep Bar (Mickey Shaped Beignets)
Plaza Inn
Red Rose Tavern
Ronto Roasters
Stage Door Cafe
Tropical Hideaway (DOLE Whips®)
Disneyland table service (Open):
Cafe Orleans
Plaza Inn
Riverbelle Terrace
Disneyland Quickservice (Closed)
Alien Pizza Planet
Clarabelle’s
Daisy’s Diner
Docking Bay 7
The Golden Horseshoe
Hungry Bear
Pluto’s Dog House
Rancho del Zocalo
Royal Street Veranda
Tiki Juice Bar
Troubadour Tavern
Disneyland table service (closed):
Carnation cafe
Blue Bayou
Oga’s Cantina
A VERY important food update (especially at our house) to make you aware of is the menu changes at Cafe Orleans. There hasn’t been an official word if these changes are permanent or just a reduced menu offering for the re-opening. We are sad to share that the beloved Parmesan-Garlic Pommes Frites are no longer offered as an appetizer, but rather as a side with either Monte Cristo Sandwiches. If you weren’t sitting down for the last change, you might want to for the next one… Mickey-shaped Beignets are no longer on the menu. I know, I know. You’ll have to head across the patio to the French Market restaurant to the Mint Julep Bar to order those! (I thought Dustin would cry when I told him this) The good news is you can still get those two BELOVED items, you just have to know where/how.
Also at MouseDining we don’t allow our friends & family members to stalk Disney’s website to find advanced dining reservations. Everyone knows MouseDining is the best Disney dining alert notification tool out there, full stop. So please set those alerts for; Cafe Orleans, Plaza Inn & Riverbelle Terrace and share and tag us along in those photos!
We’re excited #Disneyland is back! We too look forward to getting back real soon!
We know how important it is for guests to have a variety of options when they dine at Disney. We were thrilled earlier last year when Impossible and Disney Chefs began collaborating to bring additional plant-based offerings to Disney Parks guests. Whether you’re at Restaurantoraus at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park or the soon-to-open Pym Test Kitchen at Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure park, Disney chefs have enjoyed developing dishes featuring Impossible’s plant-based meat that cooks, sizzles and tastes to please every discerning palate! “Using the Impossible Foods product is a game changer when it comes to plant-based offerings,” said EPCOT Culinary Director Al Youngman. “Its versatility gives you the ability to create multiple dishes and use different cooking techniques that enhances any menu.”
What better event to celebrate Earth Month and plant-based offerings than the festival that features dishes inspired by plants! As part of Taste of EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, Impossible has a few different menu items at the Trowel & Trellis outdoor kitchen, including: Sausage and Kale Soup and Boneless Impossible™ Korean Short Rib with Cilantro-Lime Rice, Danmuji Slaw, and Kimchee Mayonnaise. Have you tried these dishes as part of this year’s festival? If not, there’s still time to try one of these mouth-watering offerings with the festival running through July 5!
In partnership with fellow blog author Karen McClintock and our Festival chefs, we wanted to share a favorite plant-based meat recipes – the Boneless Impossible™ Korean Short Rib with Cilantro-Lime Rice, Danmuji Slaw, and Kimchee Mayonnaise. Whether you’ve tried this popular dish at the festival or decide to make it at home, be sure to share your pictures with us on social!

FOR CILANTRO-LIME RICE:
Place rice and water in medium saucepan. Bring to rolling boil, uncovered, on medium-high heat. Reduce heat to simmer and cover with lid. Cook for 12 minutes, until water is absorbed by rice.
Remove from heat and let rice stand for 10 minutes. Fluff with spatula or rice paddle.
Add lime juice, zest, and chopped cilantro. Season with salt, to taste.
Keep warm until ready to serve.
FOR KIMCHEE MAYO:
Combine kimchee base and plant-based mayonnaise in small bowl.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
TO SERVE:
Cut baby bok choy in half.
Bring a large stockpot of water to boil. Season generously with salt and add bok choy. Cook for 2 minutes, until tender. Place in ice bath with slotted spoon. Set aside.
Heat oil large sauté pan over medium heat for 5 minutes, until hot. Add sliced short ribs and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until crispy. Add BBQ sauce to fully coat ribs.
Place 1 cup of cooked rice in each bowl. Top with 3 slices of short rib and glaze with additional BBQ sauce, if desired. Add large spoonful of slaw to each bowl. Place 1/2 head baby bok choy in each bowl. Drizzle with kimchee mayo and top with black sesame seeds.
