MouseDining.com Tutorial 4 of 10 – Receiving Notifications

Videos By July 1, 2021 No Comments

This tutorial describes the actions you can take once you receive a Disney dining reservation notification from MouseDining.com services.

Assuming you’ve created a free account, set some alerts, and have received some notifications of Disney dining availability, there are three ways to see dining availability. The first is through MouseDining.com’s Alert tab. Using the Alerts tab in the navigational menu, you’ll see all your active alerts. Any alerts with current availability will display “Reservation Available!” followed by the times available. Clicking on the times will redirect you to Disney’s website where you can complete your dining reservation.

Alternatively, and most commonly, you’ll be notified via email of the same availability. This email will come from support@mousedining.com with the subject line “MouseDining.com found reservation for [RESTAURANT NAME]. Simply open the email and follow the link besides the date and time to also be taken to Disney’s website where you can finalize your dining reservation.

Lastly, paid subscribers can receive text message notifications. The first link will take you directly to Disney’s website, and the second will take you back to MouseDining where you can mange your alert and account details. Regardless of your notification method, MouseDining sees and triggers a notification to be sent to all users with matching alerts within milliseconds – practically instantaneous. However, some email software and cell phone carriers can delay messages from getting to you. Email software often “fetches” email from a mail server. Mail servers are like post offices for email and delivery is often instantaneous. Your computer or phone acts like your residence or home and most email software must go to the mail server (or post office) to “fetch” the email. This often only happens every few minutes (common intervals are 5-30 minute). The best way to combat this is via “push” email. In this scenario, the mail server (post office) “pushes” the email to your email software automatically as soon as it is received.

Text messages don’t have the same delays, but they are beginning to come under more scrutiny by cell phone carriers. As such, cell phone carriers may delay a message to scan its contents to ensure it is safe and not spam before delivering to its final recipient. In rare cases, I’ve seen a complete block from a carrier, but this is often temporary as the system adjusts for current circumstances.

Regardless of how you receive your notifications, MouseDining goes to great lengths to use services with the highest deliverability rates. This is an ongoing problem that we’ll continue to monitor and update users on, but in nearly ALL cases, MouseDining is NOT the source of any delay.

Finally, if you have any questions or need help with receiving notifications yourself, please use the contact form on the website or follow the link below and I’m happy to help.

This tutorial wraps up the core services of MouseDining and the remaining tutorials will be tips, tricks, troubleshooting, and other general information. Thank you for your ongoing support and I look forward to bringing more Disney travel tools & services to you that will help make your Disney vacation even more magical.

Foodie News: Walt Disney World Resort – Cítricos and Trail’s End Reopening Dates, Salt & Straw Coming to Disney Springs and More

News By June 30, 2021 No Comments

This edition of Foodie News for Walt Disney World Resort covers lots of ground – everything from snacks to signature dining in parks, resorts, and Disney Springs. Check out all the tasty news!

Cítricos at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

I am so excited to announce you can now dine “underneath the lovely London sky” in the newly reimagined Cítricos at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which pays homage to the whimsy and elegance of Mary Poppins Returns. Taking subtle cues from the movie’s animated sequence, the dining room brings guests into a fanciful garden setting where you can “trip a little light fantastic” as you experience the restaurant surrounded by the glow from decorative lamps and chandeliers.

Sweet Corn Bisque with pickled fennel, popcorn, and fennel oil and a colorful Strawberry Salad with chamomile-infused goat cheese, frisée lettuce, bacon vinaigrette, and spiced sunflower seeds at Cítricos

Chef Andres Mendoza crafted a new menu with starters like Sweet Corn Bisque with pickled fennel, popcorn, and fennel oil and a colorful Strawberry Salad with chamomile-infused goat cheese, frisée lettuce, bacon vinaigrette, and spiced sunflower seeds.

Entrées include Butter-poached Florida Cobia with mashed fingerling potatoes, grilled asparagus, and local mushrooms with a grapefruit beurre blanc or a delicious Guava Barbequed Short Ribs with aged cheddar creamy grits, roasted poblano, curtido slaw, and Brussels sprouts.

Warm Apple Rose with seasonal apple, marzipan layers, and frozen coconut milk and the Chocolate Torte, a dark chocolate financier, dark cherry compote, and vanilla bean mascarpone cream at Cítricos

For a sweet ending to your meal, Pastry Chef Kristine Farmer created some truly delicious and decadent desserts such as Warm Apple Rose with seasonal apple, marzipan layers, and frozen coconut milk and the Chocolate Torte, a dark chocolate financier, dark cherry compote, and vanilla bean mascarpone cream.

Beverages at Cítricos

The wine and cocktail program, designed by Sommelier Israel Perez, is exceptional. For those who enjoy an elevated food and wine experience, the new and exclusive Sommelier Room at Cítricos will allow Israel and his team to source boutique wines that pair with special creations from Chef Andres.

Cítricos will open on July 15, with bookings available on July 1.

Oven-fresh pastry basket and berry granola yogurt parfait. Smoked brisket and eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheesy potato casserole. Mickey waffles. Trail’s End Restaurant

Yee-haw! Trail’s End Restaurant at The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will reopen July 17 with hearty family-style skillets for breakfast and dinner.

Mosey on over to Fort Wilderness to start your morning with an oven-fresh pastry basket and berry granola yogurt parfait for the table, followed by a hearty family-style skillet with smoked brisket and eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheesy potato casserole. Of course, no breakfast is complete without Mickey waffles! Adults can sip on Moonshine Morning Cocktails – a Pioneer Mimosa with passion, orange, and guava juices and a Mountain Mary with moonshine.

Dinner at Trail’s End is a rootin’ tootin’ good time that starts with hushpuppies and skillet cornbread with a chopped garden salad for the table. The family-style Smokehouse Skillet comes with pecan-smoked brisket, rotisserie chicken, andouille sausage, fingerlings potatoes, green beans, and buttered corn on the cob. Pork spare ribs, peel n’ eat shrimp, and cornbread-crusted salmon are available as tasty add-ons to your meal.

But be sure to save room for the Covered Wagon Sundae – a wagon load of ice cream, toppings, brownies, cookies, and chocolate-covered bacon! Adults can even kick back with Moonshine Cocktails.

Hot dog and Frozen Mint Julep Lemonade at Casey's Corner.

Get ready to hit your craving for hot dogs out of the park! Casey’s Corner on Main Street, U.S.A., will reopen June 30 with their classic all-beef hot dogs. Catch hold of a Chili-Cheese All-Beef Hot Dog or dig into a pile of Corn Dog Nuggets with, of course, cheese sauce. And my fav, the plant-based Loaded Slaw Dog (plant-based sausage topped with pickled slaw, barbecue vegan aïoli, and roasted corn relish), is back! The Frozen Mint Julep Lemonade is a refreshing homerun to go along with your hot dog. And don’t forget, mobile order is available at Casey’s Corner.

Pumpkin Ice Cream Cone at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor.

Get ready to treat yourself to hand-scooped ice cream at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor hosted by Edys. This oh-so-sweet nostalgic ice cream parlor on Main Street, U.S.A., will open July 7 with all your favorite flavors on a cone or in a cup – fat-free and no sugar added, as well as plant-based non-dairy options will be available. And more sweet news: Barq’s Root Beer Floats and Coca-Cola Floats are back! Not sure it can get much better than that!

Baked Macaroni & Cheese and churros at Eight Spoon Café.

Eight Spoon Café at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is now open and offers their delish Baked Macaroni & Cheese (with or without pulled pork). The exciting news – the Pulled Pork Jelly Donut Sandwich is back! YUM!

Dino Diner will reopen July 4, so you can grab a Dino-Rama Chili-Cheese Dog or a Corn Chip Pie. You can even get your churro fix at Dino Diner!

MouseDining.com Tutorial 3 of 10 – Setting & Managing Alerts

Videos By May 18, 2021 No Comments

This third video in a tutorial series of 10 describes how to set and manage your MouseDining.com alerts. These alerts help you get last-minute and hard-to-find dining reservations at Disney restaurants. To set an alert, you can do this from the main navigation menu of the site, or from any restaurant page within the availability calendar.

A MouseDining alert consists of 5 things: Date, Restaurant, Party Size, Meal, and Preferred Time – in that hierarchy. It’s important to note that Alerts are simultaneous and limited. Free accounts get 6 alerts, monthly subscribers get 50 alerts, and annual subscribers get 100 alerts. Notifications, however, are limitless. Notifications are the email or text messages MouseDining sends to notify you of a match to your alert. Think of an alert as an alarm that you set. When this criteria is met, we sound the alarm in the form of a notification. When setting alerts, you can prioritize and strategize your alerts to get more from the MouseDining service.

My recommendation is to start out broad, snagging any dining reservation at the restaurant(s) you most anticipate dining at. Then, once you secure a less-than ideal dining reservation, narrow the parameters of your alerts to try for a more ideal dining reservation. Another tip is to consider planning your days around your dining plans instead of trying to fit your dining plans into your day. You’ll find it much easier to get dining reservations this way.
