We hope you brought your appetite! We previously announced the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival will be returning to the Disneyland Resort March 4 through April 26, and today, we’re thrilled to dish out more details on this exciting celebration of California’s diverse cultures and cuisines.
From innovative food and beverages to heaping helpings of family-friendly entertainment, there is so much to look forward to at this feast for the senses. Let’s dig in!
Many of California’s communities and regions are highlighted in the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival’s smorgasbord of dishes. A dozen Festival Marketplaces will serve irresistible small bites and beverages, and dining locations across Disney California Adventure park – including Pym Tasting Lab and Terran Treats at Avengers Campus – will also feature special festival menu items. You may even choose to purchase a Sip and Savor Pass* for eight coupons redeemable for select food and nonalcoholic beverages at participating locations.
The Hollywood Backlot in Hollywood Land will be home to an appetizing assortment of entertainment and presentations for all ages. The all-new animated series, “Alice’s Wonderland Bakery,” which debuted on Disney Junior yesterday, is the inspiration behind a new, limited-time festival experience for junior chefs at the Hollywood Backlot Stage. During “Alice’s Wonderland Bakery Unbirthday Party,” kids ages 3 through 11 will have the opportunity to express their creativity through hands-on cupcake decorating. Space is limited, and participant sign-ups begin 45 minutes before each show time.
At the Hollywood Backlot, you may also encounter Chef Goofy or dance along with Chip ‘n’ Dale as the Jammin’ Chefs serve up tasty new rhythms using pots and pans.
On Saturdays and Sundays, be sure to catch a culinary demonstration at the Hollywood Backlot Stage! A diverse lineup of Disney and visiting chefs will prepare their favorite dishes and share insider tips for making mouthwatering meals at home.
Of course, be on the lookout for a new line of Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival merchandise.
Downtown Disney District and the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort will also join the gastronomic festivities, with select restaurants offering special menu items and events for a limited time.
And here’s the cherry (or should I say “citrus”?) on top: Soarin’ Over California will return to Disney California Adventure park for a limited time during the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, beginning March 4! Once again, you can relish the unforgettable sights, sounds and scents of the Golden State aboard this high-flying attraction.
Stay tuned for more updates as the festival draws nearer! Later this month, we’ll share a Foodie Guide to all the gastronomic goodness that awaits.

Cooking with Soul is a celebration of food, highlighting ingredients with roots in African and Black American history, and the talented Disney chefs who create these dishes across Walt Disney World Resort. As we Celebrate Soulfully, in honor of Black History Month, we’ll be highlighting how chefs have been inspired to develop flavorful creations with relevant ingredients for guests.
Read first about Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, meet Chef Sahib Bhatti, and learn more about his personal connection to a popular ingredient when Cooking with Soul: collard greens.
As a native of Tanzania, Chef Sahib feels right at home cooking up familiar flavors at Sanaa. One of the dishes that makes him particularly nostalgic is Sukuma Wiki, which translates from Swahili to “stretch the week.” Served with market-fresh sustainable fish on a bed of geelrys (yellow rice), Sukuma Wiki is a popular East African dish prepared with onions, garlic, spices and sukuma, more commonly known as collard greens. From his family table in Tanzania, Chef Sahib remembers the dish as approachable and nourishing. “When things are tough, and meat is scarce, you can depend on these bountiful greens to make this soulful braise.”
One of the opportunities he is most grateful for is being able to prepare and share food like Sukuma Wiki from diverse backgrounds. “Food is the best way to get to know a culture. They are intertwined.”
Chef Sahib started his Disney journey eleven years ago at Disney’s Boardwalk, shortly after moving to the U.S. Starting as an entry-level cook and enrolling in culinary school, he knew Disney would provide him a platform to develop and grow in the culinary field, to “complement my love of food, feed my desire to continually learn about cultures and regions, and give me a canvas for creativity.”
Chef Sahib credits his mentors who have guided him throughout his Disney career. For those wishing to become a chef, he offers this advice: “Be hungry, stay humble and respect your products, craft and, most importantly, the people around you.”
Want to try your hand at preparing Sukuma Wiki from Sanaa in your own kitchen? Check out the recipe below. Learn more about Cooking with Soul throughout the Celebrate Soulfully celebration in February and beyond, and explore other dishes at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery (Disney’s Animal Kingdom), Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen (Magic Kingdom), Flame Tree Barbecue (Disney’s Animal Kingdom) and Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ (Disney Springs).

MouseDining links taking you to a blank blue screen on Disney’s website?
Important message from Dustin:
I’ve seen so many questions like this the past 3 weeks, so I decided to make a post here to explain what it is, why you see it, and how to replicate it for yourself to learn what I have learned – that this is a Disney issue and all it means is that the dining reservation you tried to get is no longer available.
What’s this screen look like? Here’s a screenshot from my phone:
disneyworld.disney.go.com (Disney’s website) Blank Blue Screen
Here are some of the assumptions I’ve seen made about this page:
Disney’s website is frozen or hanging
MouseDining’s link is bad or broken
Disney’s website didn’t load or is down
You’ve missed your dining reservation because something isn’t working right
…and many similar others
Well, the correct answer is that you’ve missed the dining reservation because something isn’t working right. But it’s not what you think. You’ve just missed your dining reservation and someone beat you to it. The only thing not working properly is Disney’s Sorry for the “Paws” error page, which is what this page is trying to display.
You can test this yourself by visiting this same URL and link on a tablet or desktop – something with a larger screen. This page IS the Sorry for the Paws error page, but it’s just not displaying properly on mobile screens as of December 15, 2021. I can only conclude that Disney updated something and failed to test this error page on mobile at that time. You’ll ONLY get this screen on mobile devices. Larger screens show this page:
disneyworld.disney.go.com (Disney’s website) Sorry for the “Paws” Error
Both error pages take you to the root page, https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/. But one renders the Sorry for the “Paws” modal properly atop the root page on a larger screen, while mobile screens only render a blank blue page (and sometimes just take you to the root dining page). In both cases, the error indicates that the dining reservation you were trying to confirm is no longer available.
Now, lastly, nothing about the MouseDining links has changed. If you managed to be the first to the reservation, your link will still open the reservation and let you choose your guests (after you login, of course). So treat this new blank blue screen on Disney’s website the same as the Sorry for the “Paws” error message you’re used to seeing and try for the next one!
As always, if you still have questions, please send an email and I’m happy to help!
HOW TO TEST THIS FOR YOURSELF:
Oh, and for those of you wanting to test and replicate this yourself, just create an alert for a dining reservation currently available (I usually use Rix Sports Bar & Grill). Wait for 10-30 minutes after the notification arrives so someone else can grab the reservation and then follow the link on both mobile and desktop screens. If you click right away, you’ll see that the link takes you right to the dining reservation if it is still available.
It’s the first week of a brand-new year, are you ready to embrace 2022 with a focus on health and wellness?
On select Wednesdays and Fridays in Jan., Disney Springs will be offering complimentary group fitness classes to our guests, too. Each class will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will take place in Town Center near Ever After Jewelry Co. & Accessories. Interested in taking part? Here’s the schedule:
Wellness Wednesday Events:
1/5 – HIIT Workout Class presented by Fabletics
1/12 – Warrior One Yoga presented by lululemon
1/19 – HIIT Workout Class presented by Under Armour
1/26 – Orlando Power Yoga presented by Fabletics
Fitness Friday Events:
1/21 – Warrior One Yoga presented by lululemon
1/28 – HIIT Workout Class presented by Under Armour
Of course, exercise is just one component of a healthy lifestyle; it’s also important to eat a well-balanced diet. While Disney Springs is certainly known for some truly over-the-top indulgent foods, there are also plenty of better-for-you menu items to be found. Below are a few of my favorites … read on and maybe you’ll discover something new.
Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC – When Erin McKenna opened her original NYC location in 2005, she had two rules: (1) Create a bakery free of harmful ingredients. (2) Wear cute uniforms. Today, the Disney Springs location is doing just that, focusing on guests with gluten, dairy, egg, and soy sensitivities, the health-minded, and those with allergies (especially kids!) who are often unable to indulge. Everything here is vegan, gluten-free and delicious!
Frontera Cocina – The Taqueria Ensalada is a staple in my Disney Springs dining repertoire. It features Arcadian lettuce, poblano rajas, carrot, radish, avocado, tortilla strips, Cotija cheese and an avocado-lime vinaigrette. I like to switch between adding the grilled chicken breast and the Mojo garlic grilled shrimp! They’re both amazing.
Planet Hollywood – The Hollywood Bowl is a standout salad that features Romaine lettuce, house-roasted turkey breast, hard-boiled egg, avocado, Roma tomato, and cucumber. It comes with bacon, swiss cheese and croutons, but you can omit those if you’re aiming for a lower calorie meal. While the recommended dressing is Thousand Island, feel free to swap in a balsamic vinaigrette if desired.
The Polite Pig – The Polite Caesar and Cobb Salads (without bacon) are satisfying bets, while the Chicken Salad Wrap is great for those who want a handheld option. You can also make a meal out of a few Market Sides; the Roasted Beets, Tomato Watermelon Salad, Grilled Street Corn and Polite Baked Beans are a few you might want to consider. Last, but not least, there are even healthier choices for little ones including the Roast Smoked Turkey Breast and Grilled Skinless Chicken Breast. Yum!
Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant – Trying to cut down on meat consumption? Check out This Shepherd Went Vegan, a plant-based Shepherd’s Pie, or the Raglan Risotto, an outstanding vegetarian dish that spotlights wild mushrooms, glazed baby vegetables, tarragon and shaved parmesan. Raglan Road is also celebrated by those with gluten sensitivities as many of their popular menu items are gluten-free.
Yesake – The Tofu Power Bowl is a hearty mix of organic tofu, avocado, spinach, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, tempura crunch and wasabi ponzu. Best of all? You can modify it to your liking.
These are just a few of the healthier items you can find throughout Disney Springs. Ask your server for recommendations if you’re looking for other suggestions. And remember, you can always request modifications at most restaurants – asking for no butter, dressing on the side, or grilled chicken instead of fried, for example, can go a long way. Still not willing to give up your favorites? You can enjoy anything in moderation, so ask for a “to-go” box and plan to take half of your meal home. (The best part of that scenario? You get to enjoy something delicious twice!)
Speaking of home, a relaxing living space outfitted with products that evoke calm and support your wellbeing is also a key ingredient for wellness. Need inspiration? Here are a few ideas:
Basin – Self Care? Yes, please! Basin products are made with simple, nourishing ingredients that are safe and gentle for you and the environment. Whether you opt for shampoo and conditioner bars, bath bombs, or shower bombs, you’ll enjoy fresh, soothing aromas that add positivity and calm to your day.
L’Occitane – Looking for a refresher for your skin? The Overnight Reset Oil-In-Serum provides dual texture and one powerful effect via 3,000 micro bubbles of encapsulated immortelle essential oil with anti-aging benefits.
Fit2Run – Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just starting out, the team at Fit2Run can help you find the perfect fit shoe to support you in your running journey. At Fit2Run they believe everyone is a runner … “if you put on your shoes and put one foot in front of the other, you are a runner!” No matter your speed, pace or distance, every runner matters to the Fit2Run Fit Experts, who will work with you to find the perfect fitting shoes. In under 20 minutes, a fit expert can take you through a customized fitting including a foot scan, gait analysis and assessment of your goals and preferences to find the best shoes for you. No appointment necessary and walk-ins are always welcome!
The Spice & Tea Exchange – For centuries, the health benefits of tea have been widely touted. Find an impressive selection of loose and bagged teas, and, this month, save 50% off 1-ounce tea bags when you purchase an infuser mug.
World of Disney – If comfy and cozy is your goal, then you’ll want to check out the Mickey Mouse Spring collection. Featuring calming pastels and soft fabrics, there’s something in the collection for every character in your family!
So … what healthy traits are you looking to embrace in 2022? Share in the comments below – I’d love to know!

I am happy to report the Royal Prime Rib Roast and the vegetarian A Stroll Through Nature are both returning as well as the decadent “Poison” Apple dessert with dark chocolate-apple mousse. Delish!
Boatwright’s Dining Hall, a hidden gem at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, will be serving up their Southern specialties for dinner starting Dec. 14. Reservations can be made beginning Dec. 2.
Enjoy the flavors of the Louisiana bayou with the all-you-care-to-enjoy Chef’s Platter featuring ribs, Nashville hot chicken, smoked sausage, and barbecued beef brisket with mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, street corn, and green beans. Have you been craving General Fulton’s Prime Rib or the Deep-South Shrimp and Grits? They are back as well as the signature Boatwright’s Jambalaya and the plant-based Boatwright’s Harvest Jambalaya. And for a touch of Southern sweetness, be sure to order up the Mississippi Mud Crème Brûlée, a decadent chocolate brûlée with a chocolate shortbread cookie.
The over-the-top 50thCelebration Shake at Beaches and Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts is a birthday cake-flavored shake drizzled in gold glitter glaze topped with a slice of commemorative 50th celebration birthday cake. Now that is celebrating in style!
Want to start your breakfast off with a bang of sweetness? Try the “Dynamite“ Cinnamon Roll Sticks at Whispering Canyon Café at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge! Each order has five fiery red sticks filled with cinnamon schmear sprinkled with crushed red-hot candies and a drizzle of cinnamon oil. And for the dynamite wick – bacon! These sharable sticks of cinnamon goodness are served with a warm candied nut glaze.
The White Chocolate Peppermint Cream Cheese Mousse with peppermint sauce and chocolate cookie crumbles will be offered at Satu’li Canteen at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park from Dec. 20-27. If you had a chance to taste this sweet treat last year, you know how good it is! White chocolate, peppermint, and cream cheese mousse? Can it get any better for the holidays?
La Crêperie de Paris is now taking reservations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Tucked away in the France pavilion at EPCOT, this table restaurant serves savory galettes and sweet dessert crêpes, along with some of Brittany’s famous hard ciders.
I recently stopped in for dinner and ordered the prix fixe menu with the choice of soup of the day or salade maison; choice of one galette with a glass of hard cider, soda, or juice; choice of one dessert crêpe. I just had to order the Saumon Galette with smoked salmon, crème fraiche, chives, and lemon – soooo good. Seriously.
Magic Kingdom Park chefs have rolled out two new offerings for The World’s Most Magical Celebration. Over at Main Street Bakery, the Opening Day Celebration Cake has arrived with milk chocolate mousse, raspberry center, and gluten-friendly chocolate cake topped with balloon sprinkles and a chocolate piece.
It’s Grumpy’s turn to get his own Seven Dwarfs Specialty Cone at Storybook Treats – a cranberry vanilla soft-serve in a cone with a chocolate belt buckle and an adorable “Grumpy” chocolate face! This treat is only available through Jan. 9.
Another delicious treat at Magic Kingdom Park offered only through Jan. 9 is the Black Forest Cheesecake at Pinocchio Village Haus. You just have a few more weeks to try this tasty chocolate cheesecake topped with cherry compote, whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and a white chocolate coin inspired by the “it’s a small world” attraction.
Three refreshing holiday offerings are making a splash at Disney’s Water Parks from Dec. 12-Jan. 7. That Orange Bird Santa is all sorts of cute!
